I got some new perfume today to wear for the wedding and it got me wondering what others wear for special occasions, so spill the beans! Do you go for a new one or stick with an old favourite?
I have 4 favourite perfumes and wanted something new to me, I let the girl in the perfume shop advise me based on what I usually wear and I ended up sniffing over 10 perfumes. I chose Armani Diamonds (female version), R wears the male version (and several other Armani after shaves). The girl in the shop also gave me lots of samplers of some of the others I liked but said didn't want to wear for a wedding |

I have two I wear all the time but I'm a bit funny about perfumes, they can't be too flowery, too heavy or too vanilla...I wear Giorgio a lot and also Light Blue.
I don't keep any for best, you should wear perfume as you do makeup - every day _________________

Since I lost weight I seem to have developed a more refined sense of smell and now love love love perfumes. I've got four Jo Malones, each is so different and warm up as the day goes on. I've also got my chavvy indulgence Kate Moss one, and last week I bought DKNY Be Delicious. I definitely prefer fruity ones during the day and spicy ones in the evening. But one things for sure, occasion or no occasion, I can't resist a quick puff of perfume at least twice a day now. I even noticed my make up brushes smell of them now >> note to self, wash make up brushes!
This from a woman who not so long ago on this very site, said all perfume wearers should be banned because it made me feel sick and sneeze. |

I did consider Chanel No 5 as it reminds me of my childhood,
I'm like Gal and don't perfumes for best, my staple ones are Ghost Deep Night, Stelle McCartney Stella, Chanel Chance and Chanel Coco Mademoiselle
Don't think I've ever tried sniffing a Jo Malone |

It's all to do with your new-found all round positive self-image!
I used to wear Opium and Rive Gauche when I was in sixth form and early twenties! Then I progressed to Chanel no 19 and then Ysatis. Now it's just a variety of Body Shop ones, cos that's all the budget stretches to! _________________ ******TEAM FLORA****** |

oooh HT Armani Diamonds is GORGEOUS!!! i bought that for my 30th birthday (my treat to myself) and got the body lotion free, its so nice!! although havent bought more since i finished it!
my main perfumes atm are Ralph (Ralph Lauren) quite fruity and fresh, DKNY - bought myself that at the airport on hols and also received a small bottle for birthday. was given Kate Moss summer time for b'day which is nice too.
my other favourites are Armani She, Armani Code (that is lush!), Armani Diamonds, and i also had DKNY be delicious when Amy was a baby. as you can see i love Armani perfumes!! LOL!

The perfume I get the most compliments about is Vandebilt, by Gloria Vandebilt. I love Sunflowers, but it doesn't love me, I'm allergic to it. Unfortunately a lot of perfumes give me a head ache, so I'm wary about what I wear.
I only ever wear it when I go out, (and make-up too) I'm not allowed make up nor perfume at work, so I only ever wear mascara.
I suppose you could say that my perfume is for best, because I can't wear it any other time. _________________

Oooh Liz - if we ever meet please don't wear Opium it gives me migraine! (But you can wear Rive Gauche cos that's one of my faves and has no effect lol)
I only wear perfume on special occasions and then not when my Mum or sister is around because they hate it...I hate it if I have a headache but if I haven't, I like fresh spicy ones but don't know any of the new ones...Used to wear Diorissimo - Lily of the Valley with a sight kick...or Rive Gauche...I love Paloma Picasso, and have still got some Miss Dior from years ago that I still wear occasionally...Wore Tweed some years ago too...Oh and Revlon's Intimate - they don't make it any more...
I find Chanel No 5 a bit heavy and cloying tbh...likewise anything musky like Chypre or Poison...
I love Obsession for Men...woody and spicy and very erotic I think - but someone I knew very well used to wear it and that person let me down badly, so I just hope I never smell it again...
Very few perfumes last on me, and those that do often change and just smell like talcum powder! _________________

Flo - how well put! Was it you that said DKNY smelt like gin? I used to wear Rive Gauche as a winter perfume in the 80s, I felt it was too strong/heavy for summer, and Fidgi was my summer whiff back then
I have heard lots of good things about Diamonds though! And Gucci Rush, so might have to have a sniff of them
ETA - I have two bottles of perfume in my drawer if anyone wants them - not my style at all but they were bought as presents....Estee Lauder's Knowing and Cerruti 1881 _________________

I save mine for best now... it's a 2 hour round trip to get to a shop that sells my faves, and budget doesn't run to experimenting any more.
I still have a reasonable stock of Clinique Aromatics and Clarins Eau Dynamisante but the Samsara will have to wait for a windfall! _________________ You're a lot happier when you're happy. |

I'm extremely fussy with perfumes as ones I don't like actually give me a headache - Poison is a classic, and Obsession is another (not good when an exam invigilator was wearing it and I was at the front of the hall). I've got about 3 in my cupboard that I can wear (but hardly do any more - see below): Magie Noire, Ô Oui (the one with the silver top not the green) and Summer by Kenzo - the latter is very much for evening do's
However, like Flo, I'm a convert to Jo Malone. A friend gave me a bottle of the Red Roses bath oil for Xmas 2 or 3 years ago, then the spray of the Amber and Lavender the next Xmas. The bath oil is going to last for ever because it only needs 2 drops to fragrance the entire house (stink it out is what Kal would say lol). The Amber and Lavender is now my staple whiff and lives in my handbag. It was a bit on the strong side at first but I love it now - it was an inspired (if risky) choice. The same friend has the Pomegranate Noir, which is also rather nice _________________ If the result is contrary to the hypothesis, you've made a discovery |

Oh... Magie Noire! That was one of my favourites. Didn't know it still existed.
And Balenciaga Le Dix. _________________ You're a lot happier when you're happy. |
